Momma to a Medalist!

On Saturday, Parker had a golf meet invitational with 19 schools and 92 golfers involved in it. I am VERY proud to say that Parker finished in the top 10 and medaled for his score of 85. He was also the top golfer for PHS for the day. He had a tremendous back nine, but struggled a little on the front. He lost 2 balls, but made the best of what could have been a very ugly situation. Momma already has the hardware stitched onto his athletic letter =)

Getting love any way that I can...

No more math tests!!!

In each of my 6 clinical rotations, we are required to take 3 math tests. You have to get an average of 80% of the three tests. If you don't, you fail the clinical. People fail the entire clinical because they don't do well on the math tests. Talk about pressure!!! Each math test (until this clinical) had 10 problems on them. Ten problems X 5 clinicals X 3 math tests in each + this clinical X 8 math questions X 3 means I had to answer 174 math questions in nursing school. And trust me, the equations were way more complicated than the above problem, HA!!
I'm also tooting my own horn because in this clinical rotation, I got 100% on all 3 tests--a first for me =)

What I Wore Wednesday...

Monday: (as always, disgregad the junkola behind me!) Denim top from TJ Maxx, khaki long shorts from Christopher and Banks, sandal/slide/shoes from Maurices AGES ago.

Tuesday: White Merona T from Target, Cardi Merona from Target (just got it on clearance!), Khaki pants from Gap via Goodwill, flats from Target via Goodwill

Today: My go-to black leggings from Maurices, Denim dress from Target, black flower pin from a local boutique

Wednesday is here again! Hump day! Time to link up to The Pleated Poppy and her weekly linky party where everyday bloggers post their weekly wardrobe selections, kind of a way to make one think about getting dressed in the morning instead of falling back on sweats or jammies--which would be SUPER easy for me to do since once I get to work I change into scrubs that are waiting for me, freshly laundered, ironed and waiting in the closet!! I don't currently, as a rule, post Thursday or Fridays since I'm in clinical and am wearing head to toe white and NOONE wants to see that!!

Storytime....

Sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get Paxton to do reading at night, other times he LOVES to do it. The boys are really into a book I picked up at Goodwill--A Monster Followed Me to School. Paxton reading + Beckett sitting still + NO FIGHTING = Happy Momma =)

Happy Easter!!!

Yes, I know that Easter is about far more than the commercialized side that too many people focus on, but this one just tickles me =)

PFD Pancake Breakfast (with Sparky)

Every year on Palm Sunday, the local fire department does their annual pancake breakfast fundraiser. Kurt always has to work it, of course, and the boys and I head up at some point in the morning and eat with him. There is always a table full of trinket/take away goodies: pencils, tattoos, slap bracelets, can coozies, window markers, etc. But the big hit is Sparky! One of the (usually newer) firefighters wear the costume and tolerate hugs and shrieks from the kids, but at least it's in a climate controlled environment---he's not always that lucky, trust me--HA!
Paxton and Beckett wore their FF sweatshirts in honor of the occasion =)

Truthful Thursday

Because you're dying to know!
School is actually crawling to an end!! My final clinical has started, 4 out of 10 are behind me, as well as 2 out of 3 math tests (batting 100% on those!). On Friday though, instead of going to the hospital we went to school and did case studies---not nearly as fun as it sounds, HA!
Since I have a camera in my purse at all times (like it or not family and friends!), we took a group shot of us part-timers. Four years ago when we started, there were 22 of us in that first Saturday morning skills group. Between transfers, failing classes, sliding into the FT group, stopping at the halfway point, etc, there are only FOUR of us from that original group left. We picked up a few girls at the halfway point that were already LPN's and decided to return to school to finish out their RN degree, so that's why you see more than 4 people in the picture =)
The group of us have been through lots together and can't believe it's almost over!!!

What I Wore Wednesday...

Friday: Clinical was spent in the classroom doing case studies and presentations. Gray dress from Goodwill (I forget the brand, but when I bought it then looked it up online, this dress starts at $40 on eBay!), leggings from Maurices, denim jacket from Kohls, jewelry from a local boutique.

Monday: White T (Goodwill), T-shirt from my school, Calvin Klein jeans (consignment), tennies from Kohls

Tuesdsay: Christopher & Banks mock twinset (Goodwill), Christopher & Banks jeans

Today: Head to toe Christopher & Banks: jeans, tank, sweater and scarf. Not that you can see it, but my ring is from a boutique in LeClaire, IA (the home of American Pickers from TV) and my earrings came from Maurices.

My laptop is back home!!!!! Just in time to link up to The Pleated Poppy for her weekly "What I Wore Wednesday". Not that I'm inspiring anyone with my fashion creations, but I have fun doing it anyway =) PLEASE pay no attention to all of the STUFF on the floor around me!!!

Virus =(

Ugh, ugh, ugh. My laptop has a virus!!! On friday night while skyping with girlfriends, I was suddenly flooded with messages that my computer was at risk and I needed to purchase this no-name virus protection package (which I didn't, BTW). But I took it in to the local computer "place" and they confirmed that somewhere, somehow I'd gotten a virus---despite having McAffe installed! These LOSER people that create these viruses irritate me beyond belief! Why can't they use their powers for good?!
At any rate, I'm down my laptop for a couple of days and Kurt has kindly let me use his (ok, he kindly let me use it last night, today I am just helping myself!) He told me not to pick up any girlie viruses while on it!
Today is his birthday, so it'll be one of a few blog post that I'm going to be behind on when my computer comes back!!!!!

Starting the year with a 43

So the first golf meet of the year is behind us---and it was a COLD start to the season! Windy, gray, COLD. (no rain, but chances are we're going to get a little damp when we do it all again on Saturday!) The pictures I take at these early meets are a little on the depressing side: no foilage on the trees yet, the grass hasn't hit it's gorgeous shade of green yet, and Momma is forced to put her need to stay warm in front of her need to be fashionable!!!
PHS had their "Masters" tournament this week and Parker won!!! No green jacket presentation, but there is a plaque and mention of his feat at the end of year shing-ding. He continued riding the wave by shooting a 43 today, the lowest score of the PHS golfers today and right up there in medal contention area =) If he can play this well in unpleasant conditions, we're excited for optimal days ahead!!

What I Wore Wednesday...

Monday: White Christopher & Banks capris (GW), grap tank with pearl neckline (TJ Maxx) Sonoma denim jacket from Kohls, black chunky sandals (consignment)

Tuesday: LEI jeans (consignment), Gap babydoll top (GW), Maurice flats (GW)

Today: Christopher & Banks walking shorts and tunic (tunic: GW), my FAVORITE lime green Born sandals (consignment, years ago)

I'm linking up with the Pleated Poppy again this Wednesday---not because anyone there will find inspiration in what I wear though, HA!! I do get motivated by blog-hopping from there though =)
Pretty simple week here----I've started clinicals, so Thursday and Friday meant I was head to toe white, and NOONE wants to see that!!!!!

Parker's Confirmation

Last night Parker made his confirmation---a very long time coming, HA! In our Diocese you do it as a high school junior when most (it seems) do it in 6th or 8th grade. At any rate, his next sacrament is marriage--a LONG time from now, HA!!
The Bishop was pretty humorous, which helped the pomp and circumstance of the 2 hour ceremony move along =) Parker had "warned" me that no phtographs during Mass were allowed, but plenty of parents must not have gotten the memo and when the Bishop kept pointing out photo opportunities the flashes were firing off like paparazzi (well, almost!)

Show Us Your Life--Mother's Day

I'm playing linky party today with Kelly's Korner (her link is in my sidebar---I'm having trouble embedding links =( She hosts a party every Friday, but obviously I don't participate EVERY week, but am this week!) It's how you celebrate Mother's day and for us that almost always means a trip to Gov. Dodge for a picnic and fun time, we've been doing it since Arielle was a few months old! These are some pictures from 2010, so it could be a Flashback Friday as well, HA!!
