"Got anything else?"

Whenever we go to my brothers house, Beckett RUNS for the little shopping cart that the boys have long ago outgrown (Eddie would love to get rid of it, but Michelle keeps it about just for Beckett). So for Christmas this past year, she got one for Beckett. And he uses it all the time.
The other night I was making dinner and he wanted the tomato paste that I had out for his "gwocewy" shopping cart. I said he couldn't have that but he could have THIS (the salt canister I had just emptied) He said "FANKS!" then, "got anything else?" And so it went, me looking for things for his shopping cart and him telling me thanks and asking what else I had.
His cart was HEAPING and he was still asking.
And then there's an interesting side story. The other night Parker had caught my flu and was feeling poopy. He requested tomato soup and tuna sammies. No problem, I ALWAYS have the makings for that. Or so I thought. No tuna =( After I "blamed" Kurt and Arielle for eating it all and not telling me, I broke the news to Parker. The next day Kurt tells me I DO have 4 cans of tuna. Right in Beckett's shopping cart....

Flashback Friday!

This is Beckett--he's gotten cuter as he ages, LOL!!! I picked this for FBF because it was about 5 years ago that we found out we were expecting another boy. (This is not the u/s pic from THAT day however) Because of my "advanced maternal age"--that's medical code for "dang old!"--we had an amniocentecis performed at about 18 weeks. We weren't planning on being able to know at that appointment, so when the Dr (whom we had never seen before) said "do you want to know what you're having?", we were taken by surprise. We said "YES"! And she told the tech, "go ahead and tell them!". The next three words: "IT'S A BOY!" and my tears started. Yes, I cried and not for the "right" reasons. I was hoping for a girl, no lie. It wasn't a full-on sob, just silent tears, but they were there. The Dr was SO sweet, she asked if we were hoping for one or the other and I nodded, she asked if we were hoping for a boy and I shook my head. Then I said I was sorry for crying, we just need to be happy about a baby at all and she could have agreed with me and said "suck it up, Momma!!", but she didn't--she rubbed my leg and said it was just fine to have feelings like that.
They wanted to get some other views of Beckett and he wouldn't cooperate, so they had me get up and walk around to see if he'd move. While walking out to the hall I gave Kurt a kidney punch he'd never forget and then all was right in our world and we were happy as clams to be having a boy =)

Truthful Thursday--Continued....

So in continuing my el-CHEAPO ways, today I made my weekly jaunt to Goodwill (I usually come away with apothecary jar "fixins" or a book or two) and hit a major SCORE (in my mind anyway--HA!)
They hadn't even put these Adidas Superstar 2G shoes in Parker's size out yet--I spied them in the "ready to stock" area and grabbed them quick! At the mall, these would easily be $70-80, but because I had points on my members card AND the promotion was with 400 points you could get shoes or a dress for free, I paid $0 for these =)

Happy Mom's Day

Every year (well, since Arielle was about 8 months old) we have picnic'd at a local State Park with my family and lifelong family friends. Sometimes the weather is so gorgeous that it feels heavenly to wade in the lake, a couple of years we've had to move to an alternate (indoor) location because the weather is pants. But the people are always the same =) This year was on the chillier side and we didn't last outdoors for too long, but we had fun while we were out there!! These are a few pics from the day...

Menu Planning Monday

Here we go again!!! Last week kind of fell apart--I was sick one night and the golf schedule has been wacky to say the least! I'm still plugging away at this resolution though =)

Monday: My final was tonight, so there goes my "free" night!
Tuesday: Golf tonight
Wednesday: Chicken in the crockpot, pasta side, peas
Thursday: Golf again
Friday: Pork Tenderloin Medallions (trying a new recipe), parmesean potatoes, beans
Saturday: Baked cube steaks, mashed taters, corn
Sunday: Pork chops, rice, veggie

Whistling Straits

Yesterday Parker had a golf meet in Kohler, home of the world-class golf course Whistling Straits (the PGA championship is being held there in August) and this doting Momma made the trip (3+ hours by car!) The forecast mentioned SNOW the night before, so we were planning on dressing WARM for the day (think winter Columbia coat, hat with ear flaps, more than one pair of gloves!) It was cold (like just over 40 degrees) wind gusts up to 25 mph and spitting rain off and on. Occasionally the sun would peek out and boy did it make a difference--for the positive, HA!!

He played the Irish Course--complete with over 500 bunkers and sand traps, the pictures above show just a handful of them. I'm happy to say that Parker only ended up in the sand twice yesterday =) He shot an 89, which is pretty incredible with the conditions that they played in. He parred 9 of the holes, 2 double bogeys, 2 ugly holes and the rest were bogeys. He's matured a lot in the span of a year--he's definately not a member of the "club-slammers" anymore, and its a joy to see!!

If you do any Google searches of Whistling Straits or Irish Course, you'll find all sorts of glowing comments about them (including the bathrooms that are burrowed into the hillsides and are outfitted with some of Kohler's finest products--which I did NOT take any photos of, but if you DO Google search, others have done so!!)

I shot over 120 pictures yesterday (the number would have been higher if I wasn't having to constantly having to pull my camera in and out of my coat!!) and am so glad I did--it is a course to remember and we've tried to impress upon Parker how COOL it is to play there at his age--and how well he's done there.
