All-School Reunion

I went to a small (ie: 300 students) high school, literally in the middle of a cornfield--HA! WAY BACK when I was in grade school, there were 5 small towns/villages in close proximity to each other and each one had it's own 1-8 grade school. Once you reached high-school, all 5 grade schools came together to attend a centrally-located high school. (Now there is a central grade school as well, but that came long after I had graduated). Anyway, this past weekend they celebrated 50 years of being a combined district and had a whole weekend of activities planned--they opened the time capsule that had been buried, the homecoming football game and an all-school reunion on Saturday. I went to the game on Friday night with my girlfriend from grade-school on and her husband--her HS sweetheart actually so I've known him for a long time too. We saw lots of people that I've not seen in a LONG time and had a wonderful time. Inside of the school they had different classrooms set up with memorabilia from the past 50 years and we laughed at the sports uniforms, remembered wearing the HOT wool and leather band uniforms and I saw my forensics score sheets from 25+ years ago!!!

Show us your Life--Home Tour, Kitchen

The home tour continues, once again hosted by Kelly on Kelly's Korner. I'm a little late getting this one up, so there are surely 100's linked up already for you to peek at!!

Our kitchen is not big, fancy, gourmet or futuristic. It IS however, cozy, well-used and a place I spend lots of time as I do actually cook at least 5 nights but usually 6 nights a week!! The kitchen WAS renovated not too long before we moved in, and while there are things I don't love about it (ie: floor!!) it functions just fine for us.

I'm not a HUGE fan of "stuff" on the counters and you won't see canisters or a fun cookbook stand out for display, but I do have some oil-type bottles, all courtesy of Goodwill as well as my little apothecary jars filled with cherries, also straight from Goodwill. I like the glass-front cabinets and would someday like to have just white dishes in there for our everyday use. The counter/bar area is where the little boys eat breakfast and snacks and we do eat supper there if it's just the 4 of us sometimes. Yes, there is a TV in here, the little boys watch PBS in the mornings and I love me some Two and a Half Men when I'm making dinner!!

Thanks for stopping by =)

Save 2nd Base!!

It's October!! AKA: Breast Cancer awareness month!! When I went to the bank yesterday for the office, they had a table set up in the lobby with information, sign ups to win free mammograms and lots of pink give-aways. I picked up pink ribbons for all of the ladies at work and then grabbed 2 more for the Dr's =) I'm happy to report that Dr. Bob is wearing his on his shoe! Below are myself and 3 of my co-workers, Kelly (in the blue), Donna (in the brown), and Shelly!!!

Beckett turns 5!!!

FIVE years old, I can hardly believe it! FIVE years ago today, we went to the hospital to meet our last little one. It was going to be a 90+ degree day (practically unheard of in Wisconsin on an October day!), and actually every birthday party until now we've been able to be out on the deck enjoying some sunshine.

Beckett came bouncing in our room this morning announcing "today it is my birthday because it's not tomorrow anymore!!!" Can't argue with that =)

He had a great time opening gifts, with Paxton right on top of him to fill in just in case a paper cut took him out or something. Some of the FP Imaginext toys came in bulletproof packaging, luckily there were 4 sets of able-bodied hands sitting on the couch just looking for something to do--HA!! Beckett got wonderful gifts and spent a great afternoon with family--just the best way to turn 5!
