Menu Planning Monday!!

I know, I know---I didn't post my menu last week! It was an abbreviated week anyway since we were in the Dells for a couple of them and that means munchies in a hotel room, which is always a fun time!!! This week is kind of busy too with parent teacher conferences and a B-day party at the end, but I am cooking! And as always I'm linking up and am telling you to check out what's over at http://orgjunkie.com/

Monday: Steaks on the grill, baked taters, mixed veggies

Tuesday: Goulash, corn

Wednesday: Pulled pork sammies, potato chips cottage cheese

Thursday: I'm still in class---graduating in May though!

Friday: Ham steaks, scalloped potatoes, green beans

Saturday: Chicken in some way/shape/form

Sunday: My nephews b-day party, I'll take something and won't cook later, HA!

Getting there is half the fun!!

This weekend we headed to the Wisconsin Dells for a couple of days. Kurt had meetings, so the kids and I tagged along for waterpark fun =) I've got pictures of that too, of course, but honestly--putting all four kids in an enclosed space for an extended period of time is actually very humorous!

Show Us Your life--Home Tour Bathrooms

The home tours are continued again, hosted by http://www.kellyskornerblog.com/ complete with lots of links to other bloggers. There was a week where guest rooms were the focus, but with 4 kids, there IS no guest room--HA!

So we are onto bathrooms. We have 2 here, one up and one down. They still carry traces of their 1940's post-war era design elements--some I can live with, some not so much!! The "tile" seems to be original (in quotes b/c it is a plastic-type of material, not at all what you think when someone says TILE). I recently painted the previous PINK wall tiles in the upstairs bath, along with the FUGLY wooden sink cabinetry that is currently there. I have to say it is a HUGE improvement, and I shouldn't have waited so long. You may notice bare bulbs in this bathroom--I need new light fixtures to flank the original medicine cabinet (there is a slot inside labeled "razor blades"!) so rather than put up the ugly ones after painting, they are bare. Both bathrooms have glass shower doors which I HATE, so they are covered with white cotton shower curtains.

Downstairs the room probably started as a powder room and at some point a stand-up shower stall was added, borrowing some room from the den next door. A couple of years ago my talented Dad took out the vinyl linoleum and laid white tile and replaced the FUGLY wooden sink cabinet with the pedestal sink that is more in line with what was most likely there to begin with. The "tile" here is yellow and now that I know how easy it is to change the look, I think this will be a summer project for me!!

Grand Rounds

Two little words. They SEEM innocent, and maybe even make you think it means something really grand, right?! Yah, well I am here to tell you not to be fooled!! To a nursing student, grand rounds mean stress with stress gravy, a big side of stress and some stress for dessert!!

Grand rounds mean different things to different schools actually, and for me it means a huge project on an assigned disease process or surgical procedure. I've been given COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and I've had to complete a very detailed pathophysiology paper which addressed my clients history, medications, lab results, signs and symptoms, potential complications of his disease and more. We also have to prepare a teaching portion to be presented to our fellow classmates, cover the nursing diagnosises pertinent to our client and have a way of testing the class on material we've covered. Needless to say, it has consumed every non-working/sleeping/eating hour I've had in the last several days--thus the reason for no new blog posts =( I have completed 95% at this point, so I am breathing easier and can explain my absence!!
