Trying to make lunchtime FUN!!

Beckett takes a lunch to school on the days he goes (he's never been subjected to the yuck the school calls "lunch"), but Paxton got a taste of it by mistake a while back and now he likes to do a school lunch instead of a home lunch, which I am not thrilled about. (Let me explain the mistake: one day they were lining up for lunch and he got in the school lunch line b/c he wasn't paying attention and had that instead of his home lunch and that's what he likes to do now).
I think school lunch is over-priced and disgusting. They rotate about 6 different items around disguised as something different--chicken tenders, chicken patties, chicken nuggets: all pieces of something supposedly resembling a chicken product. You get the idea. I try to make Beckett's lunches at least a little interesting--he likes to blog-hop with me as we peek at some VERY creative bento blogs. I've incorporated some of the things we've seen, but by NO MEANS have not accquired the accessories that are out there! There are a TON, trust me!
He liked the idea of the Goodbyn, and likes to help me pack it, but it won't fit into his Cars lunchbox, so sometimes he prefers the zip-loc divided containers that I have. The egg molds I think are so cool!!! You boil the eggs and before they cool you peel them and pop them in the molds. Drop them into icy water and they take on the shape of the car or fish. Hopefully he'll find hard-boiled eggs something to love =)
With any luck, Paxton will get excited by the lunches as well and swing back the other way for mid-day school nutrition!

Flashback Friday

Well, you can see who learned a new online skill--HA!! This video was shot at one of Uncle Chad's softball games, Beckett was about 18 mos old. He was happy to be climbing the bleachers when Chad came along. You can see the results =)
Beckett has forgiven Chad for making him cry and now the roles are reversed--the boys can gang up on Uncle Chad and if conditions are right with no imposed rules, I'll bet Beckett could make him tear up!!

The Tale of Beckett's Owie..

Yesterday Beckett had to show me the owie he got on his knuckles. He told me that he fell at Aunt Mawy Woo's house. Tonight I asked again and he told me they were "scwewing awound at Aunt Mawy Woo's house. There wasn't any mail and then we wan on the dwiveway and I twipped and just fell!" There were lots of facial expressions and hand animations to accompany the tale, which enriched the whole experience for the audience (Kurt, Paxton and me). I grabbed the camera and asked for a repeat explanation, but got the abridged version. As seen above =)

Menu Planning Monday!!

Look who's back in the groove, HA! I missed a couple of weeks, and boy did I notice! Not that we starved--I made some yummy vittles like real fried chicken, homemade pizzas and sausage gravy with biscuits. But it feels more organized to post what we're having before the fact, not after! I'm linking up to Organizing Junkie---I'll be #379 if I hurry! Check out some yummy dinner ideas with the ladies that link up there each week.
For us:
Monday: class for me, boys mooch!
Tuesday: Kurt's off, he's in charge
Wednesday: Potato soup in the crock pot, crusty bread
Thursday: Beanies and Weenies--just for Paxton
Friday: Beef roast, mashed taters, asparagus
Saturday: Chicken breasts, pasta side, corn
Sunday: London Broil, potato packets, corn

Flashback Friday

AKA "have you met Beckett's tongue?" Holy smokes----I was looking through some older pictures to see if there was something I wanted to use for FF, and a recurring theme kept throwing itself at me. Beckett has his tongue out. A lot it seems! Egads, it sure explains the perpetual state of chapping that afflicts him in these cold months!!!

Truthful Thursday

An update, even if its not all sunshine and roses, ha!!
Finishing nursing school---never-ending. My fun pink backpack and all the treasures it holds mostly just mocks me since I feel every spare waking moment should be spent with me pulling things out of it, ugh. NCLEX-RN will be 7 letters I won't be sad to see disappear from my vocabulary!!
Sending cards: I can't believe how bad I am at this so far! They are all made, all I have to do is chose one, write it out and mail it and even that seems to be such a hurdle lately =(
Keeping my check register current: um, depends on your definition of current--HA! However, it doesn't even meet MY standard of current!!
Decluttering: this one is actually going well, although you'd doubt it to look at the corner of our bedroom at this very moment!!! I've done lots of listing on eBay and have sent a ton of items out =) Much more to do though!

Slave Labor

Sure they think it's fun now, but when they are 16 will they be as willing to move snow?
