Menu Planning Monday

This week is an abbreviated version =) The kids are on Spring Break this week and on Friday we're going to the Dells for a fun weekend away--which translates to no cook-y for me on 3 days--HA!!
Once again, I'll be linking up to where hundreds (yes, really--hundreds) of other bloggers post their menus for the week!!

Monday: (I'm on SB too, so no class for me--I have to cook!!) BBQ pork in the crock pot that I'll shred for sammies, french fries
Tuesday: Goulash, corn, biscuits
Wednesday: Ham Steak, juliene potatoes, beans
Thursday: Chicken--I'll probably do it on the grill, rice, veggie

Best of all, I pulled all the meat from the freezer so Kurt can be happy about that =)

The more things change....

Last night Kurt was HOME on a Saturday (these only come around every 6 weeks people--we get happy about them!!). We had a family friend b-day gathering to make an appearance at in Mazomanie (a bit of a drive) and after all day at the hospital, I left Kurt in charge of dinner. We headed out and decided that Dodgeville was probably our best best for selection, so we chose Pizza Hut. I have not been to this particular PH since I was in High School probably (so, like 8-9 years--HA!) The place had not changed one iota, I swear! The same fake brick on the walls, "barn" boards in the entryway, same booth and table placement, etc. BUT, my company was different than way back then (you know, 11-12 years ago). Last night I dined with 3 of my 4 handsome guys (while I exchanged text with #4 who was wondering what was for supper. The same one who could have come along if he could be bothered to answer his cell once in a while instead of only ready text!) Also, no blogging exsisted the last time I was there (16-17 years ago), so add that to the list of changes as well =) My poor family is used to me digging in my purse to pull out my trusty Canon at any given moment when we are out of the house (my given right AS I mother, I might add)
At the end of the meal there were balloons for the boys--which morphs into another story all on its own!!!

Flashback Friday!

This was taken at the annual breastfeeding support walk that we've always attended in Dubuque (although, I do think we're done now!) Beckett would have been about 9 months old. His shirt says "Nice legs, but I'm a boob man--100% breastfed!" Boobman hardly described him, he nursed for 40 months to. the. day.
This is also my periodic plug for breastmilk donation!! Between the little boys, we were able to donate about 8,000 ounces of expressed milk to other babies. There are 128 ounces in a gallon so that makes approximately 62 1/2 gallons of breastmilk. PLUS all of the stuff pumped for their own consumption--MMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, LOL!

Following in family footsteps.....

A little background: Kurt's father, Kurt and his brother all have Bachelor degrees in History. All three of them are big readers, historical publications rank high on the list and there seems to be an emphasis on novels of the political variety--presidencies, elections, campaigns, etc. There is usually a couple of exchanges of books at the holidays which is followed by statements like "I'd like to read that when you're done with it" or "I've heard good things about that book, let me know what you thought of it".
I myself like to read, I prefer non-fictional pieces of work, biographies certainly fall into that category and sometimes they are even political in nature. Last week Beckett showed himself to be the 3rd generation of Tuescher men who enjoy themselves a good political read. Now look carefully at the choice he made. NOW, listen closely because I'm pretty certain you'll be able to pick up the very audible groans coming from those 3 guys I mentioned at the beginning of this post.
Yes, he's reading "Monica's Story". Well, mostly looking at the pictures, but it's a foray into the life he seems destined to be a part of =)
