Golf: The TEAM Sport

So, to date, any blogging I've done about golf has been limited to Parker as his own entity. BUT, he's just one man of a 5-6 man team, so today's pictures are of those other guys (along with Parker) who make up the PHS TEAM. It was the conference meet today, so Mom was dutifully following along snapping pictures of the boy. But after all the players were in, it turned out that there was a tie to decide who the individual medalist would be. The top 2 had to do playoff holes to decide. Josh from PHS took on a player from a rival school and 95% of ALL of the kids there followed along to see how it would play out. The shot of the 6 PHS guys is of them returning from that shoot-out and as I watched them coming up the fairway, it really drove home the fact that golf IS a team sport and I'm glad I fired off a few good frames to illustrate the point.

The more "posed" group photos took place after all was said and done. Even 15-18 year olds have a hard time getting it together!

As a PS, I edited, printed and made a framed grouping of these 3 shots for each of the boys and the coaches. See Parker, it IS alright that I show up with my camera...

Say "Hey" to Kermit for us!

Just as Kurt was coming around the corner of the house tonight, I spotted this little guy hopping around in the hostas. I tried to catch him, but failed miserably, so Kurt did the whole "Daddy" thing and scooped him up for the boys to see. (Which totally worked out for me, since he pee'd all over upon contact!). As I went for the camera, the boys took a few inquisitive jabs at him and quickly lost interest. They did enjoy watching him hop away (but I'll but the toad enjoyed it more...)

Big Job Done

WHEW! My Mom and I spent over 3 hours working on the rock wall area of the backyard today. We took out FOURTEEN big bags of old mulch, weeds and about a million vines. Some new plantings were added and now it looks GREAT (upcoming graduation party and all) Please ignore the yellow hose snaking across the foreground--those freshly planted beauties needes a drink!

Sidewalk Chalk Artist

Sidewalk chalk is a big thing here. The boys have tons of it and go in spurts with their creative masterpieces. Here's a few of Beckett working on his next big drawing, that'll last until the next rainfall...

PLAY BALL!!!

America's favorite passtime is alive (if not so well) in our own backyard. It is finally warm enough and has dried out to the point where the little boys can go wild outside. This is Arielle and Paxton swatting a few the other night.

In the White Shirt...

That means Parker shot for the varsity team tonight! He and his buddy ended up being switched for this meet, but not with the end result that Parker would have liked. He shot a 48, which he is definately better than--especially on the course that they played on. BUT, all golfers have an off night, even Parker. On a bright note, the photographer from the local paper got some shots of him in action, so maybe his wounds will heal a bit if he gets some ink in next weeks edition. (See, I've just been warming him up for just such an occasion by following him around the course with my camera!)

You'll notice a pouty picture--taken after a less than ideal shot. AND, in a killer moment you'll see his foursome gathered around a water hazard and then a close up of what it was they were looking at...

Paxton's Golden Birthday!!

Paxton is SIX! And a very excited 6 year old he is. He woke up KNOWING it was his day and was sure to tell us all. We did a smaller version of a party last night with Grandparents and his Godmother making it for dinner, gifts and the all-important cake and ice cream.

He did very well in the gift area: Grandma's practical savings bond, Grandma's practical clothes and lots of fun things like a bowling set, baseball glove, Thomas the Tank Engine playsets, an outdoor game set and a big wheel! (some assembly required)
