Oh, what a sad, sad day.....

In another era, I'd be wearing widow's weeds! Garnier Fructis makes (well, MADE) the absolute BEST styling product EVAH, but sadly they've "made the difficult decision to cease production of our water-based shine wax" (taken verbatim from the email they sent my in response to my inquiry of the product. I'd had a sinking feeling when I started not being able to find the little green cans at K-mart, then Wal-mart, Target and Walgreens. I would pick up a few whenever they were on sale, luckily, because the 16 cans I have in possession are likely to be the last ones I will have in my possession.
Oh, GF made the suggestion that I try some other product of theirs that THEY think will take the place of my beloved wax, but I'm not very hopeful based on looking at it in the stores. I love my chunks and am now on the hunt for something to make it happen!!

Menu Planning Monday!!

OK, first of all--I need to make a disclaimer: all menus are LOOSELY planned! I always reserve the right to make tweaks or outright changes where I deem them necessary or just b/c I darn well feel like it! There. That had to be said b/c in last weeks plan, I had biscuits listed with beef stew and then I didn't make them. And Kurt noticed! And commented! More than once!! HA! Sorry, honey =)
As always, I'm linking up with Laura's blog: I'm an Organizing Junkie. I've tried embedding the link to her blog right here, but it's not behaving right. Her link is always in my sidebar though, b/c she's one of my faves!!!
There could be lots of switch-a-roo'ing this week---no real exciting meat sales at the grocery store this week, so I'll be pulling from the freezer--very thankful for that option!
Monday: I had class
Tuesday: Ravioli and sauce, garlic bread
Wednesday: Turkey & gravy, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce
Thursday: Pasty =)
Friday: Salmon or Tilapia, rice, peas
Saturday: Chicken breasts made somehow, sides
Sunday: TBD!

Lazy Sunday and What NOT to Wear...

We're having a pretty laid back Sunday here. I ran a couple of errands and cut Kurt's hair, now it's study time (OB!) and the boys are playing nicely with legos. Paxton is s Lego FIEND!!! Far too often Beckett just plows through what Paxton is trying to build, but today Paxton builds and Beckett is playing with the results =)
Speaking of Beckett. The disclaimer is that HE DRESSED HIMSELF!!! He came in our room carrying the shirt today and said he wanted to wear it and I said fine. Then he asked if he could wear shorts (yes, it's only 35 degrees today, but he's not going anywhere--ESPECIALLY dressed like this, HA!) so I said OK. Egads, this is what he chose! He's pretty proud of it too......

Flashback Friday

This one is a FF AND a pre-cursor, since Parker can start golf practice on Monday!! I'm not saying they'll be out on any sort of course on Monday, considering we are waking up to 20 degree temperatures lately!! They'll be swinging clubs in the gym for the first little bit, I predict =)

What I Wore Wednesday...

Trying something new, we'll see how long it "sticks". I came across a darling blog ( www.thepleatedpoppy.com ) and each Wednesday she hosts a linky party for other bloggers to post what they wore, hence the title of the post! She started it as a way to "force" herself out of sweats and jammies and to put a little effort into getting ready for the day! While I don't typically leave the house for work in my jammies (I am fortunate enough to have my scrubs waiting for me at the office), a more presentable me could be had (you know, for any surprise lunch dates I might have the opportunity to accept, hint hint!) PLUS, I'll be able to track what I REALLY wear (so I can weed out the rest) and can also truly see what works on me and what doesn't. Because while I love my husband to death, he would never tell me yay or nay--HA!!! You'll see I relish the thrill of the bargain when I shop too!!! I obviously will have to get better at the self-photo shot and perhaps pick up the CRAP on the floor behind me when I shoot!!!
I will also have to play with loading the pics so the text that "goes" with them is put UNDER them individually!! Here goes:
On Monday:
Silver brand capris (consignment store)
Gap babydoll cami-top (Goodwill)
Cardi from Target
Black flats (consignment)
Boyfriend watch and ring from Target, hoop earrings from Kohl's

On Tuesday:
Black T-shirt from Target
Gray dress from Maurices
Black leggings from Maurices
Gray/black flats from Target
Earrings and ring from a local boutique

On Wednesday:
Gray tshirt with rosettes from Target
Gray cardi from Target
Lei jeans (consignment)
Same black flats and jewelry as Monday (got lazy!)

Beckett visits the dentist....

Kind of sounds like the title to a Curious George book!!! And actually, this ALMOST could qualify as a Flashback Friday post because it was several weeks ago that he went--HA!!
This was his cleaning, and I have to say, he did SO good. He was such a trooper when they were getting with Xrays--lots of trys and he just kept letting them =) He did have one tiny cavity that Dr. Pete filled a few days later and that was (thankfully) another success story! Wish the same could be said for Paxton....

Menu Planning Monday!!

Well, Spring Break is over, we're back from----oh wait, Spring Break wasn't a vacation get away for us! Oh well, it IS quieter around the house for poor Kurt, HA! We did pretty well with sticking to the menu last week, except for a snafu on Friday---WHOOPS! I'll be linking up with I'm an Organizing Junkie, as usual! The ideas that you can find over there are amazing. Really, if you're in a dinner-time rut and I'm not inspiring enough (sniff sniff), there are TONS of meals to look at and some talented ladies even provide recipes =) For us:
Monday: Class continues, but graduation does loom!
Tuesday: Chicken breasts (baked with Catalina dressing, cranberries and onion soup), rice, veggie
Wednesday: We'll see, might have a little gathering to attend--otherwise Kurt's in charge!
Thursday: Pork roast, roasted red potatos, veggie
Friday: Shrimp scampi over pasta, salad, bread
Saturday: Beef Stew, coleslaw, biscuits
Sunday: Turkey, stuffing, green beans

Things might get shuffled a bit, but I DO have a plan so that helps TONS!

What's for Supper Saturday...

Except it's Sunday--HA! This one is SUPER simple to make, I pull it out quite a bit when pork chops are on sale =) Golden Mushroom Pork Chops is what it's called:

6 pork chops (I buy 2 pkgs so sometimes its 8 chops, which is fine) I trim any fat
seasoned salt
pepper
2 cans golden cream of mushroom soup
sliced fresh mushrooms (I use a whole blue container)
Rinse and pat dry the chops (IMPORTANT, don't skip this!), lay in a 9x13 pan, sprinkle the pepper and seasoned salt. Mix the sliced mushrooms and cans of soup in a bowl (will be very thick) I "glop" a spoonful on each chop. Cover with foil, bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake another 15 minutes. Wonderful with smashed taters!!!

Flashback Friday

Since Parker got his letter in the mail today offering him summer employment at the pool again this summer (although it was for an attendant and he recently completed his lifeguard training and was/is hoping for a guard position and the letter was for an attendant. Please cross your fingers that the guard offer is forthcoming!!!). Anyhoo, it made me want to look for some past pool pictures to share with you today!!!

Truthful Thursday

Continuing with the New Years resolutions!!!!
The cabinet that holds the "tupperware" (not all of it is the namebrand, house-party variety!) got attacked over the weekend. Not that it needed it--HA! Whose doesn't, really? I returned all sorts of zip-loc containers to my MIL, the good news, by doing so our chances of them finding their way back here with yummies in them has greatly improved!! I got all of the lunchbox items coralled together in the green bin on the top and the lids to all the containers are neatly lined up in the other green bin. I am happy to say that EVERY bottom in this cabinet has a matching lid that fits =)
I have my checkbook register caught up!!! Simple, easy-peasy task right? You'd sure think so. You'd also wonder why its so stinking hard for me to do then!
I've been leaving more comments on blogs! Especially bento-type blogs =)
Decluttering continues!!!! I have been taking bags of stuff out on a very regular basis---to my coworkers, the thrift store and I've got another tub of things ready to go to consignment. Go me!!

Menu Planning Monday!!

Monday again!!! But its the first Monday of daylight savings time, so that makes it a GREAT Monday =) Time to list our weekly meal plan, last week went well--I did forget all about the start of lent, so we did a quick switch-a-roo where needed and got by just fine. I tried a new crockpot recipe that I snabbed by checking out some of the menus posted over at I'm an Organizing Junkie, where I'll be linking up again. This week we're all on Spring Break, except Kurt and I have to work of course, so things are only slightly different--HA! For us this week:
Monday: Boys have "Mooch Mondays" ingrained in their brains!
Tuesday: We'll punt, Kurt's gone & I'll be headed to my Mom's for taxes
Wednesday: Steaks, baked taters, corn
Thursday: Pork chops, a side of some sort, veggie
Friday: I bought (imitation) crab, will find some way to make it!
Saturday: Chicken fried cube steaks, mashed taters, veggie
Satuday: Chicken breast, not sure how I'll make them yet, sides

Trying to make lunchtime FUN!!

Beckett takes a lunch to school on the days he goes (he's never been subjected to the yuck the school calls "lunch"), but Paxton got a taste of it by mistake a while back and now he likes to do a school lunch instead of a home lunch, which I am not thrilled about. (Let me explain the mistake: one day they were lining up for lunch and he got in the school lunch line b/c he wasn't paying attention and had that instead of his home lunch and that's what he likes to do now).
I think school lunch is over-priced and disgusting. They rotate about 6 different items around disguised as something different--chicken tenders, chicken patties, chicken nuggets: all pieces of something supposedly resembling a chicken product. You get the idea. I try to make Beckett's lunches at least a little interesting--he likes to blog-hop with me as we peek at some VERY creative bento blogs. I've incorporated some of the things we've seen, but by NO MEANS have not accquired the accessories that are out there! There are a TON, trust me!
He liked the idea of the Goodbyn, and likes to help me pack it, but it won't fit into his Cars lunchbox, so sometimes he prefers the zip-loc divided containers that I have. The egg molds I think are so cool!!! You boil the eggs and before they cool you peel them and pop them in the molds. Drop them into icy water and they take on the shape of the car or fish. Hopefully he'll find hard-boiled eggs something to love =)
With any luck, Paxton will get excited by the lunches as well and swing back the other way for mid-day school nutrition!
