Happy Memorial Day

It was a pretty low-key day for us. Kurt took the day off, so it was wonderful to have him home with us today =) We lazed for a good portion of the morning and then decided to go and climb the "M" (more on that later!) and then we had Grandma and Papa over for BBQ ribs, coleslaw, baked beans and homemade mac & cheese out on the deck. It was a BEAUTIFUL night for it!!!
The rest of the weekend I spent working on my flower pots and such, so I have put a few pictures up to show you what I've done. Yes, those are cheesy resin adirondack chairs, with the college kids in the neighborhood, you never know if they'll stay around for long =(

Season's first outdoor water fun!!

It is HOT here! Like upper 80's hot. The community pool won't open for a few more days, so we're holding on until then and doing what we can (besides hiding in the A/C 24/7--HA!
Yesterday while I worked on my flower pots on the deck, Kurt set the boys up with their splash pad thing-y. Which created huge puddles on either side of the thing-y which was too big of an attraction to ignore with ride-on toys...

Paxton's 1st grade music program

First a little background: When Paxton was in 4K, it was a ROUGH year. He cried each day Kurt took him for months. He was shy, RARELY participated, barely spoke above a whisper (while there, not at home!) and never told us about his day. On the night of his "concert" I had a class and RACED back to town to catch what I could of the program. When I got to school I couldn't find any sign of him. I finally made some calls and he had been so unhappy there that Kurt just took him home. That made Momma cry =(
Last year in Kdg (Parker's golf banquet was the same night, so Kurt caught the concert and I did the banquet) he stood up there and did some singing and some of the hand motions--definate progress!!
So last night was the 1st grade version. I got to go, yay!! When we arrived, Mr. Social Butterfly was greeting kids by name and was ready to ditch me in the lobby! When the kids filed in, there was LOTS of hand waving by parents and kids alike and he looked a bit concerned at first, but then he caught us in the back, Mom with the big ol' camera around her neck, and his face lit up and there was momentary concern that his arm was going to come flying off and take out an audience member a good 6 rows back! He. Had. A. Blast. Sang the songs, watched the other groups, did the motions and smiled like a lunatic for the majority of the time. I wanted to cry for GOOD reasons =)
I shot about 60 pics--good think Blogger has a 5 per post limit--HA!

Eastbound and Down...

Ah yes, an old "classic" from yesteryear has become a new favorite movie for the little boys. I bought Smokey and the Bandit for Kurt a little while ago and the boys have latched onto it like a Smokey on a donut (sorry, Honey). They will walk around the house belting out Jerry Reed's little ditty and Beckett will ask us for a dime because he has to go 10-100--insert eyeroll here for THAT one.
Last night Paxton recreated a scene from the flick, shared here with you, my tolerant readers--HA! Pixar doesn't make a black trans am, so you have to use your imagination that the green car in the lead is the Bandit, followed closely by a not-to-scale Hotwheel squad car =)

It's going to be 90 degrees and humid on Sunday--we'll be wishing for the snow again soon, right? HA--not me!!!

Congratulations, Golfers!!

Well, I did not make it to Parker's conference golf meet today =( Which was a real shame because he played a FABULOUS round!! He and his teammates had the top 4 scores of the entire meet: a 76, 79 and two 80's, he had one of the 80's. The team won by more than 30 strokes over the next closest team and 4 of the boys made the all-conference team. (Parker missed a meet last week due to the illness than went through the house. I think if he had made that meet, he'd have a great shot at making all-conference as well. Maybe next year!!)
These pictures are from the conference challenge on Saturday, but the boys that played today are the same =)
Congrats to my sweet teenage son and his teammates!!!

Eat, Sleep, Golf

That's what it seems like lately anyway!! Parker had some early rain/lightening-outs and with reschedules, sometimes he had matches 3 days a week! We're starting to wind down now though--today is the conference meet (they've already won the conference championship, so this is more to decide which teams will move onto the Regional round next week). In honor of that, here are some pictures of the little boys swinging their own clubs last night

Whoa, am a slacker this week or what?! Parker had a golf meet last night, and after working all day and then walking 9 holes, this Momma was a pooped gal! I barely had the energy to make my moves in my scrabble games on FB--HA!! Here's our menu this week:

Tuesday: Kurt grilled burgers =)
Wednesday: Polsa Keilbasa in some way, shape or form!
Thursday: Meatloaf, mashed taters and gravy, peas
Friday: Pork tenderloin, roasted taters and roasted broccoli (my Mom swears by this!)
Saturday: Chicken breasts, pasta side, veggie
Sunday: Pork roast, sides

"Got anything else?"

Whenever we go to my brothers house, Beckett RUNS for the little shopping cart that the boys have long ago outgrown (Eddie would love to get rid of it, but Michelle keeps it about just for Beckett). So for Christmas this past year, she got one for Beckett. And he uses it all the time.
The other night I was making dinner and he wanted the tomato paste that I had out for his "gwocewy" shopping cart. I said he couldn't have that but he could have THIS (the salt canister I had just emptied) He said "FANKS!" then, "got anything else?" And so it went, me looking for things for his shopping cart and him telling me thanks and asking what else I had.
His cart was HEAPING and he was still asking.
And then there's an interesting side story. The other night Parker had caught my flu and was feeling poopy. He requested tomato soup and tuna sammies. No problem, I ALWAYS have the makings for that. Or so I thought. No tuna =( After I "blamed" Kurt and Arielle for eating it all and not telling me, I broke the news to Parker. The next day Kurt tells me I DO have 4 cans of tuna. Right in Beckett's shopping cart....
