In the Corner Office...

OK, so my office building is kind of an octogen-shaped creation without many TRUE 90 degree type of corners, so technically it's not so much a CORNER office as it is mine =) Since I KNOW that not everyone out there relishes visiting the dentist, I kept the camera out of the clinical areas and stuck to where you can usually find me when I'm not sitting chairside! A messy desk is a sign of a sane mind or something, right--HA! Somehow all the "stuff" that noone else wants to deal with lands there along with all of the things that ARE my responsibility--I would NEVER make it look that way all by itself =)

My wall of diplomas/certificates is waiting patiently for the one I'm working so hard on right now...

Kind of a lazy week here--I wasn't organized when I went grocery shopping and didn't buy any meat, which is fine, there is plenty in the freezer so I had Kurt pull a few things out for the week. I'll be linking up as usual http://orgjunkie.com/ I promise there will be more creative ladies than me there this week--HA!!

Tuesday: Tilapia, rice, green beans

Wednesday: Pork chops, starch side, veggie

Thursday: Class for me, the boys eat yummy at Grandmas!

Friday: Cube Steaks, potato, veggie

Saturday: Will try to talk Kurt into dinner out =)

Sunday: Beckett's B-day party, grazing galore!!

Mental Health Break

So this is a very demanding semester in regards to nursing school =( It's only 2 classes, a 15 week clinical (for which I miss an 8 hour day of work per week for!) and a 3 hour theory class on Thursday nights. In the theory class, we have a test every week and then move right into the information for the following weeks test. This semester's clinical includes the standard 3 math tests--which scare me stiff, AND a huge Grand Rounds paper, for which I do not yet have my client. It involves a detailed pathophysiology paper, nursing diagnoses and everything related to those, addressing all the medications and lab values that are available and presenting a very involved teaching plan---the presentation when all is done will last about an hour.

Needless to say, with all of this PLUS the usual responsibilities of being a wife, Momma to 4, full time job, home and all that comes with THOSE things, when the opportunity came up to buzz down and spend an evening/day with my BFF, I was all over it--HA!!

Just a little jaunt down to see her, she lives about 1 hour, 15 minutes away and she has a busy life as well, so we don't get to see each other nearly often enough =( We did a little shopping, lots of talking and a TON of laughing, all the things I needed!!! Can't wait to do it again soon, but it won't be soon enough for THIS hectic nursing student!! I lurve you, Patti!!!

Show us your Life--Home Tour, Master Bedroom

This week at Kellly's Korner, the home tour continues with Master Bedrooms, so here is ours. We love our room, it is huge. Our home was moved to this location in the 70's when the new library was built on campus. A garage was built at some point and our room is above that garage. It very comfortably fits our king-size bed and plenty of other furniture too. The dressers and nightstands once belonged to my Grandparents and the cedar chest was a high school graduation gift. I would love to find an armoire to house the TV and cable box stuff, but until then it's parked on the dresser. I didn't even attempt to straighten up Kurt's chest b/c he'd have all of those papers out again the very next day!!

Our house is a classic cape cod with the steep-pitched roof all along the front. Our closets are all along the North wall and inside they extend all the way back as the roof slants down. We can store LOTS (too much) of stuff in there! There's a cathedral ceiling too, not sure how much of that is apparent from the pictures!! Just ignore the things we tuck under the dressers or the dust you may see =)

The bedding is from Kohls, curtains and lamps from Target. The apothecary jars are either from Hobby Lobby or ones I made from Goodwill fixings. The wall of "T's" all came from Hobby Lobby as well as many of the photo frames.

Thanks for stopping by, I can't wait to see everyone else's spaces!!!

A couple of weeks ago my parents were camping at a nearby State Park so we went up for a couple of hours. The boys enjoyed it--maybe someday we'll get brave and tag along!! Mmmmmm, Smores.....

Show us your Life--Home Tour, Living Room edition

Last year one of my very favorite bloggers did a series of Friday posts all about home tours and due to popular demand she is bringing it back. Her blog is Kelly's Korner, her link is in my sidebar---if you like checking out homes and how others decorate as much as I do, click on over there!!!
These pictures are from when I posted our living room earlier--I had big plans to take all new ones, but Paxton had an elaborate train track set up, so I didn't want to take it all down on him yet. The only real changes are that I flipped the 2 chairs around so they are on different sides of the couch, and I'm not sure I'm loving it, so it may not even stay that way!!
Next week is Master Bedrooms----makes for a great reason to clean, HA!

Get out and Vote!!!

Nothing like reminding you all at the END of election day--HA!!! I did my part although I HATE the way you have to vote in Wisconsin. In the primaries you HAVE to vote straight party. So if I want to vote for a Democratic Govnenor but a Republican Sheriff, I can't do it! DUMB DUMB DUMB =(

Dairy Days 2010

This Momma is piling up the "Good Momma" awards lately! Historically, the weekend after Labor Day is our city's Dairy Days celebration. I won't go into whole background of the 3 day event, but suffice to say it involves a parade (which we skipped--I love the bands and there aren't many anymore!), a historical encampment (which the kids get to as part of school projects) and a park full of rides, concessions and cheesy game stands. Of course it comes complete with smoking ride operators, questionable parenting and enough heebie-jeebie inducing sights to make me shudder as I type.
That said, Arielle was sweet enough to take the little boys up on Saturday night for a couple of hours and Kurt and I took them back up today for a few hours. The BIG part of this is that Kurt had to head home to get ready for work and I stayed up there until the boys were ready to come home! They, of course, enjoyed themselves as the pictures well prove =)
