Paxton's new digs...

So far anyway!!! He's moved in and is a happy chappy =) I still need to put up the topper board and paint it and of course DECORATE, but he is happily settled as much as needed for the meantime =)
I am LOVING the board and batten and it was a super easy project!!

Menu Planning Monday

I'm pulling out of the freezer for the week so I can get back in sync with the local grocery store flyer and back into the groove. It won't be hard, the freezer is pretty full, as Kurt will attest to, HA!! He cringes sometimes when I ask him to take a load of groceries downstairs, no fib!!! I'm going to link up with I'm an Organizing Junkie again, be sure to take a peek at some of those blogs, lots of dinner ideas with these ladies!!!

Monday: Just Kurt and I--Beanies and Weenies (I can't always be a gourmet!)
Tuesday: To Die For roast in the crockpot, taters, viggies
Wednesday: Pork Chops, pasta side, peas
Thursday: My class starts, Kurt's in charge tonight
Friday: Kurt is off, maybe dinner out?
Saturday: Baked chicken breasts, stuffing, beans
Sunday: Marinated round steak on the grill, baked taters, veggie

He works hard for his money....

Parker actually has been working TWO jobs this summer--what an ambitious kid, eh?! He's been doing the golf course at the country club since this Spring and returned for his second season at the pool as an attendant (he's seriously considering being a lifeguard next year though!) The night I took these pictures, he was doing a rotation in the sand play area. He was starting to pick up the toys as time ran down and Beckett was following right behind him pulling the stuff back out!!

Only 2 pool days left =(

Living in Wisconsin means that the outdoor swimming pool is a very seasonal thing. Once school starts up, there is no more funtime in the water as the lifeguards (most of them anyway) head back to college or if they are high schoolers, many of them begin sports practices. It is depressing to see the empty pool on the hot days of September that are sure to come our way =(
At any rate, we are getting the most out of the days left and are heading up there whenever possible! They are loving the water just as much as during our very first trips of the season, the biggest change is the stark difference in skin color between their nut-brown backs and their snow-white little butts, HA!!

Truthful Thursday--Continued....

It's been awhile since I've made myself accountable with my new year's resolutions! Still meal planning (yes, there was one for this week even though I didn't get it posted here -( still decluttering (another tub went out today!!), trying super hard to stay on top of couponing (b/c bargain shopping is always good--HA!) This is my receipt from the grocery store last night. My list totally revolved around the flier and I found coupons for a lot of what I bought--between the 2 tactics I saved over $45!!! And yes, that is berry-colored nail polish blocking out pertinent information on the receipt, my black sharpie has apparently gone on walk about....

Board and Batten Project--up and running!!

I love me the look of board and batten walls--they are ALL over blogland and seem so easy to tackle. With Arielle giving apartment living a try and vacating her room, this was the perfect opportunity to knock off this project. Paxton will be moving into this room, leaving Beckett in the one they've shared since Beckett was born (more or less--he did room in with us for the first several weeks!)
I had white on the bottom and chocolate on top in my head and then we were able to find bedding that will make this work!! I took these after calling it quits last night, but since then I have finished hanging the boards and all of the white has at least its first coat of paint. The chocolate needs to go on one more wall--it's covering nicely so a second coat will be easy peasy, if it is needed at all!
Paxton is loving it--as am I =)

Happy Birthday, Arielle

We had Arielle's birthday dinner tonight--she requested parmesan chicken tortellini, salad and breadsticks and I made Olive Garden's pasta fagoli--YUMMMMMMMY!! My parents and Kurt's parents were here for dinner and cake, it was a nice night and we were able to sit out on the deck (until the mosquitoes chased us inside!)
Since Arielle is giving apartment living a stab, her gifts this year were meant to help with that transition--not very exciting though, HA! She opened a coffee maker, pizza pans, kitchen knives and towels. The gift cards she opened got big smiles too =) Of course she took all the leftovers!!!!
Happy Birthday, Arielle!!

What's for Supper Saturday

Yes, I know this wasn't on the "plan" for tonight, but I didn't get to the store before the sales changed, so a did a switcharoo!!
BBQ pulled pork, this one is SUPER easy:
Place pork roast it a crock pot, size not really a factor! Sprinkle as liberally as you wish with garlic powder, top with BBQ sauce--I use an entire bottle! Cook on low "all day", shred with 2 forks and serve on buns =)
It looks yummier than the picture lets on--I think it's the blackness of this crock pot!!

Bay Beach Amusement Park

For our final day in Green Bay, we went to Bay Beach Amusement Park right on the water. The big kids would have been bored after about 45 minutes, but it was perfect for the little boys.
The tickets are $.25 each and each ride takes one or two tickets to ride. Our $20 worth of tickets lasted for our 8 hours there and we even had a handful left over, HA! Paxton was more adventurous than I thought he might be--I was so impressed!! They loved the train, ferris wheel and merry-go-round. Paxton enjoyed the swings far more than Kurt did, LOL! We had heard great things about this park before we went and are so happy that we checked it out =)
