Apothecary Jars on the Cheap!!

It's been a while since I've shown off any of my highly skilled projects (wait, that's never! Highly skilled is not the phrase I'd use!!) I. Am. In. Love. With apothecary jars!! LURVE them, I say! I have a few I picked up at Goodwill or Hob Lob (50% off of course) and have seen other creative bloggers putting together some of their own with "parts" from here and there. Total lemming that I am, I convinced myself that I could do that too =)
I started with 3 lidded glass containers from, you guessed it, Goodwill. Next I pulled out 3 glass candlestick holders that decorated the tables when Kurt and I married. Some super-duper glass glue and 24 hours later and they were complete!! Here is one of them filled and on display, the others just currently have spanish moss in them, waiting for a FAB idea to bash me over the head--HA!!

Menu Planning Monday

For the first time all year, I found it hard to get in the mindset to do this weeks menu!! I think it was the planning of Easter dinner that did it--HA! Trying a couple of new things this week--it's been a while since I've had a "What's for Supper Saturday" post, maybe one of these will morph into one!
Again, I am linking up with Organizing Junkie--HUNDREDS of blogs link up there each week. Since the minimum meal plan contains 5 meals, most do 7 days worth and plenty are better than me and do breakfasts and lunches AND recipe links, one trip over there could get you set up for months!!
For us this week:

Monday: Still have class--the boys mooch from Grandma!
Tuesday: Spaghetti, salad, garlic bread
Wednesday: Kurt will be home, he's in charge!!
Thursday: Marinated chicken and veggies on the grill (red potatoes, onion, asparagus)
Friday: Beef rouladan, spaetzle, green beans
Saturday: Poppyseed chicken, pasta side, corn
Sunday: Not entirely sure yet--the grocery flier comes out tomorrow, LOL!

Let me just add that last week one of my planned meals didn't happen and we resorted to Dominoes for convenience. Two pizzas, breadsticks and "free" soda was THIRTY dollars with tip!! I can do 2 or 3 GOOD homemade meals for that. Puts things in perspective, for sure!!

Easter 2010

As I just loaded 79 photos from today onto FB, I will probably get a lot of mileage out of today's pics--HA! Blogger only allows 5 at a time, so what other choice do I have, right?
These are of Beckett and Paxton checking out the spoils b/4 cousins arrive. EB used "wellies" as their baskets this year--since they are both HUGE fans of puddle jumping, he made a fabulous decision in this!! He's just that good!

The coloring of the eggs....

Tis that time of year again. It was a relatively stress-free evening--as it turned out Kurt and I BOTH picked up an egg coloring kit, so the boys could each have an entire set of cups to themselves and no fighting, er sharing, had to happen, HA!

Mini Bedroom Makeover

When we got our king-size bed about 7 years ago, I bought a darling bedding ensemble by Waverly in a black/white toile pattern. I LOVE it and Kurt was sweet enough to tolerate it for so long--HA!! But alas, its starting to look a smidge shabby with all of the activity that the boys perform on it (it's Parker's favorite place to wrestle with the little boys!) So I've been keeping an eye out for something to replace it without spending a small fortune. I also wanted to avoid having to repaint the walls in our bedroom (I don't ask for much)
Today at Kohl's I found what fit the bill!! Chocolate and white--it really works with the blue walls of our room. Of course it was on sale (50% off), a sweet saleslady gave me a coupon for another 15% off and when I got to the checkout, the nice guy there said "I think if you buy one of these comforter sets, you get 2 throw pillows for free". I told him I hadn't noticed a sign like that (and I'm usually all over something like that!) but he said "I'm pretty sure that's the deal" and took off 2 of the 3 pillows I had off of the tab =) THEN he helped me carry everything to the car!
Kurt seems to like what I picked, but did comment about the vast number of pillows that perch upon the bed--which he's entitled to do since he makes the bed about 29 out of 31 days a month!!!
